Sorry, I'm not aware of a 5 cent coin (1950-1966) minted by, issued in and legal tender of the US that is not listed on Numista other than the 1964 Special Strike (which wasn't actually "issued" per se, either). There must be some trick to this.

Some of the questions were worded in ambiguous ways, though, so I also can't be certain the criteria I have included are correct.

Going back through the questions.
This was my question...

Quote:
Is the coin a denomination of 5c (nickel) ?

But Keith edited it to take out the word "Nickel". Could it be something other than a Jefferson, like a 5 centavos? I think Joe might have covered that with the list he linked to, but maybe something wasn't in the list. just thinking out loud here.

In the eyes of the U.S. Treasury Department, hobo nickels are, officially, only former legal tender mutilated beyond recognition and, therefore, worth absolutely nothing.

I might just use the last question to narrow down the date range
and then we can have some guesses. Keith can then put us out of our misery. :)

Was this coin around before 1960?

Now I'm wondering if the mint views wrong planchet strikes as "legal tender".

I think I have to say Invalid Guess.
Steve this country doesn't put people on coins until they have been dead for at least 2 years. (Last I checked Jimmy's still kicking it)
Try again
