Did we miss Taiwan as an Asian state with over 10,000,000 and under 200,000,000 population? The country was formerly named Formosa before Taiwan. They had United Nations membership 1945 to 1971.

Oh, I have been lurking in the background! I did not mean to use up a valuable question.. so why don't we consider it a bit. Also, consider the Peoples Republic of China is the successor to Taiwan's U.N. seat, since 1971, but Taiwan formally claims the name Republic of China. Have to keep that in mind when looking for silver coinage.

Yes, I missed Taiwan, because I only looked at the list of "countries" in the link from @spence, and I should have scrolled down further to the list of "dependencies and territories." So Taiwan should be added to that list. Apologies for the omission. |

But a very helpful question, as it looks like it has the ability to split the current field in half. I will start with the list of non-Islamic countries with population over 10 million and under 200 million, and then apply this test, referring to this reference: https://www.worldometers.info/united-nations/Philippines, Thailand, Myanmar. These countries were in the first 60 admitted to the U.N. So their rank order MUST BE LOWER than the last two digits of the date (60-90) regardless of the date. If the coin is from one of these, then we should get a yes from @joecoin. Cambodia, Nepal, Sri Lanka. These countries were admitted between number 60 and 76 to the U.N. So if the coin is from one of these countries, the answer depends on the specific date of the coin. A 1961 is likely to get a no answer, but a date of 1977 or later will get a yes. VietNam, North Korea, SOuth Korea. These countries were admitted at above number 147 to the U.N., so their rank order MUST BE HIGHER than the last two digits of the date, regardless of the coin's date, and we must get a no answer from @joecoin. I don;t know how Taiwan fits. Confused yet? Edited by tdziemia

I can't find a definitive list of country membership admission to the UN by numerical order.
tdziemia's link comes close, but the yearly entry lists are alphabetized, so I can't specifically pinpoint a countries numerical membership.

Well that was a dead end. I found silver coins for all the countries listed in the date window. Myanmar has very few.
