1 more question should do it with all these hints floating about. I got the pictures ready and everything. Why do I cheer for the guessers even though I'm GM? Just a softie I guess.

I've never beat the guessers. Not like I try to hard, but if you guys gotta go down, I'll walk the walk. Then I'll talk the talk, and gloat forever that I beat you with a loonie. Now I wish trig and I had clammed up. You need 1 more ? to start the clock. Then, we will see what happens...do I win, or do you guys?

Don't bring Numista into this, remember we beat your off planchet error coin before.

I'll have to find a more difficult coin next time after this win. .

I think Loonie is running out of Canadian coin to use.
He will be flooded with Aussie coins soon. :)

Now that is funny. Not likely, but funny. .

I guess a 1987-2012 Brass Proof Loonie from the War of 1812 proof set.

Canadian 1 dollar coin.

Maybe that's what triggersmob already incorrectly guessed. So long ago I can't remember anymore!

Welcome back Oz. Don't jump ship so fast next time.

I have no idea how you figured it to be brass, , but you're correct. Forgot the country though. You still get the win.

Thanks for keeping my streak going. .

I don't think any loon has been struck in brass, before or after this one, so it's pretty rare. It sure stands out in the binder against it's mates.

Thanks loonie, I guess I'll take the win.

BRASS didn't mean that much to me given all loonies seem to be brass plated this or brass plated that.

Eventually came across this tread

http://goccf.com/t/142157

Does the pure brass coin look much different to the plated ones?

Why not.....

Oz, that is the same thread as trig found it in.

Yes, the brass loon stands right out. The older loons are much darker, the newer ones look more like it, but are brighter when fresh. I'll post some pic's side by side when the camera comes home. I have the loonie binder out already, hold tight.

Is this coin older than 100 years?
