Conder101: So far the only 2008 quarter I've seen in change locally has been one New Mexico Quarter.

And to think that I was so happy to get my first Alaska Quarters from circulation in my change today.

A report like that from Conder101 really puts things in perspective.
Denver gets tons of new quarters added to circulation constantly. I go to 7-11 today and the quarters in their drawer were all Alaskas (from opened BU bank rolls). New "D" State Quarters are not at all unusual to receive in change around here once they get out of the Fed. and into the banks. Once you see one of a new design, that's a sure sign that you'll be seeing a lot more of them in short notice!

Hexencent may be in an area like Conder101's where Quarters just don't circulate as much as certain large cities and the banks have plenty of old quarters in the vaults.

Even in Denver (home of a major production Mint facility) there is still a few weeks 'lead time' between the start of the mintage and when the banks get them from the Federal Reserve.

I'm not sure what's going on but today I went to the bank and asked for Alaska quarters and they said they didn't have any. So I asked for a regular roll (I need them for parking), and they didn't have any rolls at all. I asked if another branch may have some (this was the main branch) and the lady said she knew they did not.

What's up with all of that?
Rest in Peace

I live in western Colorado, and it was weeks before area banks had Alaska Quarters.

I bought two rolls, simply because I wanted to give some away, and I like them -- one of my favorite Statehood Quarters.

I think I would be VERY concerned if my bank didn't even have a roll of quarters on hand. (And they say that NONE of their branches have a roll of quarters either!!) I'd probably be looking at moving my account to a more solvent bank.

Especially considering that you can get them from just about any grocery store service counter (at least in Denver). I've even received new BU State Quarter rolls from grocery stores (which may be a bit 'inconvenient' if you just wanted to get quarters to use for spending!)
