Hi I noticed that the values for the AB prefix appears to be greater that the AA prefix. Anyone know why?

Hi I noticed that the blue collector folders has a mintage of 800.000 in maccas but 80.000 on a numismatic website. Which one is correct? Regards, Ozzie

Quote: Hi I noticed that the values for the AB prefix appears to be greater that the AA prefix. Anyone know why? It's the same reason why Coat of Arms 1927 florins are pricier than Canberra 1927 florins: fewer were kept in top condition. AA prefix were only issued in folders sold to collectors - so they all stayed pretty much Unc, except for the ones busted open so people could see how easily the OVD rubbed off. AB notes were actually issued for circulation, and had to be rescued by collectors from damage and eventual withdrawal and destruction. If all the casual bicentenary-souvenir collectors obtained an AA note, they wouldn't have needed to get a pristine AB note too, so fewer AB notes were kept. Quote: the blue collector folders has a mintage of 800.000 in maccas but 80.000 on a numismatic website. Which one is correct? 800,000 is also the figure quoted in Renniks; I suspect that's the correct number.

If my memory serves me correctly...... I think that these notes were the first circulating polymers on the Planet. I certainly remember using them in circulation for a short time.

They were the first polymer notes used. I have to say, the original $10 polymer is probarbly my favourite australian note, maybe second behind the paper $20 cause Hargraves was a local of the Illawarra!

I liked the 1988 $10, but my favourite is the John MONASH - the more I have, the happier I am ...

Hi
I kept one years ago cos it's not cut square. Earlier post by MonoJoker (i couldn't see how to 'quote') indicates this may have been a common issue. I thought it might be worth more not being square but is this so common as to not make a difference ?
thanks

monojoker asked, Quote: Does anyone else's note have a similar concave bottom edge? I have an AB that is concave and an AA that is straight. Eman, I'm not sure if the bottom edge has any bearing on value; personally I wouldn't think so. As mentioned, whether it is a folder UNC AA type, or an EF circulated AB type, is probably more the determiner. I think it is a beautiful note too.

Someone is going to be left with a sour taste in their mouth when they too much for this note. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1988-10-...em35b429c7bfDeliberately misleading or just a seller over sight ? I've never had a problem with this seller but a seller with their experience should know better.
