Well as promised I said I would show you a few species and this is the first one,I've crushed all larger species in a mill to extract the gold and some of these are the by product,The rest are detected.

That's pretty neat Harry. So this one was crushed in a mill. Is that usually how it's done when it is mixed with quartz? Now to get the remaining gold out of that piece what would you do? Just mill it some more until all quartz is crushed out?

Now this piece looks different than the one posted above. Is that a result of milling or is it a different type of gold? Sorry for all the questions I am just curious.

The gold/quartz mix looks a lot like California vein gold.

G'Day Mike and yes DVCollector this is vein gold or what we call reef gold,Mike normally I would leave this in the mill/crusher until the quartz had been crushed to powder then separated by panning,I don't like to use mercury to extract the gold even tho easier a bit more dangerous
Aussie-Gold-Finds
this is another look at it with a sharper photo
Oh and P.S. The difference between alluvial gold and reef gold is the alluvial gold has bleed from the reef and traveled away by water hydraulics smoothing the gold and reef gold is very course also can be an indication of a close gold shedding reef

Thanks for the info Harry. I understand things a little better now. With that kind of gold laying around I probably would have gold fever. Maybe it's a good thing it's not easily accessible to me.

Yes Mike I know what you mean I some time's get those itchy feet too ,
I have a few more photo's tho I think I'll save them for another month
I'll just throw these two up,the first is some elluvial species (found between reef and creek) opposed to alluvial (found in creek) and the last are just fly specks
