TPG Graded Details

I started thinking the other day about which of the coins that I have are keepers and which ones will eventually get sold when I need the money.

Some of the sparse number of keepers are straight grades in slabs and some are raw. But one of my favorites is an 1858-S half eagle "VF cleaned" that I picked up on the Bay for melt. It's not even shiny or hairlined. Aside from liking early SF coins of all types, where will I find another one? And more importantly, where will I find another one for melt?

To your point Lancek, two of the keepers are raw details gold dollars. The 1854-S came out of a group of five shabby dollars that sold for melt. The 1849-D is shiny ex jewelry, obviously details, and sold for three times melt, but who's counting? It may be the worst 1849-D dollar out there, but it is what it is and it didn't come from Denver.

It's always been the thrill of the hunt for me sel_69l. But the accretion of found objects over decades is filling up all of my available storage space....
