Amazing coins to be sure. Curious, did you set yourself a budget for the set or are you just getting them if/when available at whatever the market price ends up being.
While my income and assets are probably higher than the "average' collector, it's absolutely nowhere near that of the "Big Boys". As such, when complete, I expect this set to be roughly #10 - #15 in the PCGS Registry. I cannot compete against those higher than that!
When I started this project, I took a look at what these coins would run in the various grades. Initially I decided to go with a minimum grade of 64RB (other than the key 1877). With that, many coins would be obtained at $500 - $1,000 each, but I knew I'd go for many 65RB's and in the later years 66RD's, with many coins costing $1,000 - $3,000. Subsequently, I decided to go with a minimum of 65RB. There were a few coins I picked up several months ago for several hundred dollars each, and I will now look to upgrade those.
As for the 1909-S, I'll go for either a 65RB or 65RD. For the key 1877, I was going to go for a 64RB, but I might consider a 65RB. A 64RB might run roughly $10K, and a 65RB $17K or so. UGH!!!!!!
