Sort of similar situation. About a year ago my Sister passed away. Her house was a little trove of coins laying all over the place. My Grand daughter grabbed all of them and no one objected. In her will she left over a million dollars to just about every one she ever knew except me. Even her house was left to my Grand daughter. I got nothing and so be it. However, I'll probably never find out what those coins were that she left all over the place and there was thousands of dollars worth. Lucky Grand daughter since she ended up with a ton of money and a house and she is only 15 years old. I sure would have liked to have gone through those coins but all to late now. I suspected all ended up in the bank. Yes not getting along with relatives can end up not monetary good.
As to your situation I would just give her anything she wants and write off this situation. Move on and just don't make a relative an enemy. You can always get more money but not a relative.
