Nice Flying Eagle!

The first coin I bought ...
Mid-1960s I was in the school lunch line, and I saw the kid next to me getting ready to pay for her lunch using a really good looking Standing Liberty quarter. I offered her 50 cents, and she took it. It turned out to be a 1917 Type 1. probably EF+.

About 40 years later I swapped it for a couple of other coins that fit my collection better, so I no longer have it.

Not long after that , I began using my allowance money to buy Indian Head cents and Liberty nickels when I went to get my hair cut. The local barber was an older gent who sold coins to kids.
