i think it depends on what was used to clean the coin. it could have been dipped, whizzed or harshly cleaned. its tough to put a number on how much it should be discounted. I think it would be anywhere between 20% and 70% of the value of a straight example. its quite subjective and the buyer needs to be the person that has to determine what its worth to them. personally I would never buy a coin I knew was cleaned even if I needed it however in my inexperienced days I had no idea there was such a thing so I have a couple key coins that received that designation. I know better now

Wow, the difference in those coins is surprising. So the question that comes immediately to mind: under magnification, can you see any abrasion marks or other evidence of cleaning?

i just found what I believe is a PERFECT 2023 linc and I am tempted but I wont.

so...............
i am going to 5000 grit sand paper a piece of aluminum sheet metal to a mirror finish then I will wash, rinse and repeat to see if what you are asking happens.

Ditto on what Sap said about this because that aspect of the coin actually bouncing around had not occured to me until he mentioned it.

i am going to do this tomorrow.
