The 1804 Bank of England dollar was struck as a 'token' to alleviate the big shortage of official silver coins midway through the reign of King George III. Although it only exists dated 1804, the coins were overstruck on crown-size foreign coins including Spanish and Latin American 8-Reales, French Ecus and even the occasional US dollar. So sometimes you can make out the date of the original coin!
