I thought I would come up with a Wheat penny one, since I get wheat pennies in change in return or rolls of pennies from the bank once in a while. I really like the design on it, too. Always found it to be unique.

He is not searching, he is spending. If you are putting them in circulation, add your totals here.

As I've mentioned in another thread, I save up all the wheat pennies I find that are duplicates of ones I've already collected. Then, at the end of each year, I put them back into circulation. These are all "found on the ground" coins, not from coin rolls and (generally) not received in change. Currently I have 7, from between 1937 and 1956.

BTW, I also do this with 2009 cents; currently I have one of each type (including only the second "type 4" I've ever seen).

Last night I placed the following in a restaurant "tip jar":

- 5 wheat pennies from 1941 thru 1956.
- 5 2009 cents, with all 4 designs represented.
- 4 nickels from early '40s thru late '50s (no wartime ones).
- 4 nickels from 2004/2005, representing all 4 designs.

I have a few other wheat pennies (1937, 1942, 1947-D), not in as good shape as the others, that I plan to spend tomorrow (along with a few more 2004/2005 nickels and 2 bicentennial quarters).

I guess I should mention that I did spend my remaining 3 wheat pennies on 12/2.
