Centinal,
I am on the lamination wagon. You should do more research on it to find out for sure. Is it a lamination or a de-lamination for instance. Good luck on your research and let us know your outcome.

This was most likely a lamination before the strike. If it were post strike, a ghost of the design details would show within the laminated area.
Here is an example of a post strike lamination and the design details that can be seen after lamination.

@Dearborn That's the exact conclusion I had come to after looking a few of these up.

@Tacc you posted your truthful and honest opinion

Yeah Centinal, I am relatively new to searching for and understanding coin errors.
I have literally been collecting coins for over 50 years but not until about a year ago did I join this forum to try to better understand errors & varieties. I humbly post alot of responses and more importantly I do check the facts as best as I can before I respond. I have a 10,000+ coin collection passed down from my father & grandfather most of which are uncirculated.
I have spent many, many hours checking my collection, and I do indeed learn much by responding to others questions on this forum, but of course I am not as seasoned as others on this forum and I always welcome advice from them.
To me, most of the laminations I have found in my collection just look like damage. I am always learning.

@Tacc Well your opinion on any coins I post are always welcome. Also...your collection sounds extensive!

My collection is mainly pocket change with a smattering of beat up foreign coinage that was given to me over the years or found at garage sales etc.

Makes it a little intimidating posting what I have lol!

There are quite a few of us that have rather large collections here, but don't let that stop you from posting what you have - we all started with one coin at some point.

Very true Dearborn. All collections have to start from somewhere. Now if we were talking indian artifacts (mainly projectile points for me, arrow heads spear heads atl atl etc) then I could realy throw my wieght around lol.

And out of the thousands of specimens I've acquired over the years, the whole thing began with one spear head I found in a culvert during a fly-fishing trip.
