I would not spend that kind of money on that coin from those photos.
Most recent photos suggest cleaned - Unc Details

The entire obverse looks wrong in a way I can't quite explain.

Well that's not very helpful. Please give it a go. Color, wear points, design inconsistencies, must be something.

1. It does not have a natural surface appearance with the pitting and roughness through the obverse fields and across the devices. It looks almost like it was sandblasted. This could be a die artifact due to rust but usually both sides of the coin would have similar die artifacts; in addition, rusty dies would be extremely unlikely for a coin struck in 1924.
2. The color is off and the overall appearance is that of a cleaned coin with poor to no luster
3. The large amount of black gunk built up in the cracks and crevices is broadly inconsistent with a high grade Uncirculated coin but is broadly consistent from residue left from a previous cleaning or other environmental contaminants such as dirt or debris that would not be present on an Uncirculated coin in most cases.
My verdict would be Details-Cleaned/possibly Environmental Damage

I would say MS64FH depending on luster as well. Looks to be FH for sure though.

I would bet money it details. Lightly corroded, altered surfaces, or harshly cleaned based off of the first photos. Unc Details.

Thank you all, I have said it before, your help is vital
Seller has good rep, but if the pics are bad they are most likely not bad because the seller can't take a good photo.
I will probably still go for it if I can get it cheap

i think the photos are deceiving from the point that lighting is obscuring or altering the look of the coin. I don't think the luster is there and cannot get this coin to MS65 without it. its hard to tell which photos are what the coin looks like in hand. i'll wait to see in-hand photos if you pull the trigger. return policy? good price? maybe worth a chance the comment I agree with is paralysis' that Quote: The large amount of black gunk built up in the cracks and crevices is broadly inconsistent with a high grade Uncirculated coin but is broadly consistent from residue left from a previous cleaning or other environmental contaminants such as dirt or debris that would not be present on an Uncirculated coin in most cases.

Yes I'm sceptical to. 2024 and can't produce better pics. Maybe I try 50-100$, would that be ok for a cleaned fh au

I don't see any red flags. Just an amazing strong strike on this one.

Quote: How much does FH normally add to a standing liberty value? depends on the date and grade if this coin graded MS65 straight no FH full retail maybe $650 if it graded MS65FH then could be in the $2200 range

take the worst case scenario for pricing
AU58FH details(lcleaned)
average retail straight about $200. its a nice looking coin with what looks like a pretty good strike, its a FH. what it looks like in hand is going to be the deciding factor on value. maybe $75-80. its a common coin.
personally I don't like buying details coins and especially a common date. i'd rather have a lower straight coin but thats just me
