Picked up this note on Heritage tonight. I had another I was bidding on, from El Dorado, AR, but someone else wanted it more than I did! The Phillips National Bank of Helena, AR, was chartered January 17, 1931. The name was change to First National Bank of Phillips County in 1972, then First Bank of the Delta in 2005. It merged and became a part of Southern Bancorp Bank in 2009. The bank issued only $5 1929 Ty.1 and Ty.2 notes, with 7 Ty.1 and 17 Ty.2 notes currently in the T&P census. This is a new note to the census, and while not uncommon it will be the 2nd highest grade Ty.2 note listed. Signatures of cashier C.C. Ayer and president Benjamin Ligon Ross.

This $1 note was issued by the city of Camden, Arkansas. Signatures of mayor J.A. Proctor and treasurer W.H. Terrell. Proctor was born in Georgia in 1831 and moved to Arkansas in 1849, and was in the grocery and furniture business in Camden. Terrell was also the bookkeeper for Proctor. This is Rothert note 92-5 and is listed as an R-7 (1 to 5 known). Heritage mentioned they were aware of only one other example and it is in a much lower grade.

Thanks, jbuck! The Camden note has an annotation on the back of the holder regarding "minor repairs", but when a note has only a couple known examples and they seldom come up for sale, I can easily overlook issues like that!

Great addition & fun to watch your "rabbit hole" deepen @hokiefan_82!

Another pickup on Heritage tonight. This is the 4th note I've picked up on Heritage which are evidently from the same seller, all in separate auctions, as the PMG registry number of all of those are 1998882-***. I wish that Heritage offered them in the same auction instead of spreading them out as it really increases my shipping costs! The First National Bank of Springdale, AR, was chartered on June 24, 1907, and merged and became part of First Security Bank in 2004. The bank issued $5-$20 1902RS, 1902DB and 1902PB, as well as 1929 Ty.1 and Ty.2 notes. There are four $20 1929 Ty.1 notes in the census, with this note having the highest grade of those listed. Signatures of cashier J.L. Stafford and president Art L. Lewis.

The Citizens National Bank of Arkadelphia, AR was chartered on September 25, 1911 and was open past 1935 (the FDIC Bank History website shows no later information on this bank). The bank issued $10 and $20 1902 DB, 1902 PB, and 1929 Ty.1 and 1929 Ty.2 notes. There are a total of 10 large and 14 small notes listed in the T&P census for this bank. This note is one of six $10 1929 Ty1 notes listed, all shown with grades between VG and VF. Signatures of cashier Howard Abraham and president C.C. Tobey. Alphabetically, Arkadelphia is the first bank on the list of issuing banks in Arkansas. I have an example from the last one listed alphabetically, Wynne, so now I just have to fill all the remaining holes between those two...
