Ok just read through the chat thus far.

From a savings point of view this makes cents to stop the penny.

But I'm a little surprised at the lack of appeal to keep the penny for numismatic purposes. They are so cheap it makes for a perfect entry point to coin collecting. So even if new penny are not minted. I hope they become NIFC mint sets, and that people can still get them at banks.

Just thinking about all the possible errors and gems still in circulation waiting for one of us to save them.

You will always see me championing the cent to remain in existence as NIFC—in bronze if possible.
