I guess I grew up poor, I didn't get an allowance. But, back in the 1960s I earned my pocket money by scouring the roadside for discarded deposit soda bottles, which were good for 5¢ each.
Find a half dozen, and you had enough to buy a bag of chips and a large 16-ounce soda with 25¢, plus a bottle to cover the deposit.
Most places don't even have bottle deposits nowadays. Disposable society, that's a shame.

And mint sets were $22 not $125

And Silver Eagles were $66
