I collected for many years in the US before moving to Canada 5 years ago. Not judging if they are good or bad, ICCS is THE service that is respected in Canada. Here it is like PCGS + NGS + ANACS together would be considered in the US. PCGS is considered "sort of" a grading service and NGC is viewed here like many of you might view Accugrade. It may not be fair, but that is the way it is here.
I wonder if the 1948 dollar referred to above is Chinese. An ICCS holder would be easier to fake than an American "slab", which I understand is now happening. I don't think the US has done it yet, but the Canadian government recently (effectively) threatened anyone knowingly selling unlabeled (Chinese) reproductions of Canadian coins. This was specifically directed at
ebay and reproductions of Canadian coins marketed by Chinese firms have disappeared fro
ebay in the last 2 months. Although they will linger as a problem.
