Quote: Another 1950D. Both of my 50-D Jefferson nickels are nicely toned. Very nice example. That Australian 50 cent piece is incredible! Great toners everyone! This tread is by far one of my favorites.

The Canadian Double Penny Specimen Sets of the early 1970's were displayed in a black felt lined case which reacted with the cents (sulphur in the flock). One cent was placed obverse up and the other reverse up. The opposite side of the coin got toned/tarnished. These are pictures of the two toned faces from Two Cents from the same set. Kind of a leopard skin reaction.

Here are a few of my coins... 1897 Proof V nickel (NGC PF-61), original light orange/blue toning, probably from being stored in the original envelope or someones coin cabinet. 1974 IKE $ from proof set, UGLEST toning ever! Even worse in hand, not to mention the reverse cameo sucks. Scratches all over the case! 1961 Proof Nickel... Again, bad pics. REALLY nice toning, and you can see on the reverse photo what the coin looks like compared to a blast white proof quarter.

This one has some very attractive rose-gold coloration in hand. Hard to capture with my camera. ET

No dout about those 1970 Fifty Cent Pieces of trout1105's! Australia has some incredible designs past and present...and most likely future. Here is a recent purchase as well as a toner;
