Sap & others -> pardon my naivete, I'm not a seller on ebay but am thinking about it as a way to offload some of my extra coins. How could a seller on ebay effectively ensure that French people couldn't find them easy?

Not exactly sure what you mean by finding someone. You mus know that due to the freedom of information act, if you want to you could find not only a person but everything about them if you really wanted to. If someone in france, for instance, wanted to find you, they could simply have someone in say Italy buy something from you. So now when you send it your name, address, etc is all right there on the return section. Aside fron that if a person wants to they can pay a few dollars on those people search web sites and with a minimum of information, even find out your married status, you shoe size, prison record, how much you owe on your house and lots more. And usually only need your name and state.

just carl -> I was referring to Sap's input about restricting sales of nazi-era coins to countries that ban nazi symbolism.

The pronoun "them" in this case refers to nazi-era coins.

I wasn't referring to finding anything about me...

I try to avoid selling anything German related from that era locally, you just run into too many weirdos. Online I wouldn't care. Just don't want some neo-nazi fanatic knowing what I drive, etc.

And I'm not making this up, this stems from experience.

I own a number of German coins from that era. I never could understand why anyone would be upset about them, because I was thinking about the historical aspect of them.

A few months ago, I was walking through an antique store and came upon a set of leg shackles and a metal collar that was used to bring slaves from Africa to the US. I almost got sick to my stomach thinking about having that in my house. I realized how someone could be upset over 3rd reich coins.
