Yeah, easy... Unless I get into all the varieties...
Just start with the basic 32 coin set, then you can worry about the other varieties.

...so I grabbed this 1978 when I saw the same pattern of toning.
Nice grab!

Just won this one on ebay

Paid shipping, plus coin, total a little over melt.

Do you think it might be a pegger?

Anyway it's a keeper.

You are so correct.

Thanks for your input

BTW, it was not advertised as a PEG LEG.

To me it was a MS coin with AG value.

Well guys here he is, whatcha think? I liked the fact that both dies were affected. Paid $90... Also, I wonder why there's no grade

I like it.

You cannot grade when there are no details from which to properly judge wear.

That's kind of what I was thinking jbuck but if they can grade a nail or a piece of 3M sanding disk etc then this shouldn't be a problem.

Question, has anyone seen numerical grades on slabbed planchets?

And the obverse is the hammer die correct? I wonder how it was so heavily effected.

Bought some proof Eisenhower dollars at a semi-local shop today. I did quite a bit of online comparison and this shop had some of the lowest prices I could find. Once there they knocked another 20% off the purchase price. I figure they had already cherry picked the best Ike proofs for certification, but feel I got a decent deal. I'll post a pic (1971-S silver) as example (the scratch in front of Ike's forehead is on the mylar). I haven't much experience with proof coins--is this what's called a cameo? Most of the other coins looked like this one.

Better pic, better lighting, and Ike is freed from the 2X2.
