You said 1971-P though. I was not aware the Philly mint made any FEV. I saw nothing on the Ike Group webpage except the 1971-D. The coin pictured is a 1971-D. I can't take credit for finding it, another forum member did. For those that don't know, REV = Friendly Eagle Variety. Lots of little differences on the reverse of the coin. The namesake is the absence of a brow line which makes the eagle look friendlier. I'll post a pic that I labeled to point out some of the differences.

More differences in the moon craters. This pic came out a little crappy. Sorry about the labels being so tiny.

The coolest thing is that the FEV is the only Ike that has the Apollo spacecraft contrails visible (V shaped feature I have circled).

I don't get the hype about FEV's honestly as they aren't too expensive. Are they just tough to find in the wild or rolls or bulk lots?

Good question. Obviously, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Here is why I like it so much. It's unique and fairly easy to identify. There are 11 markers, most can be seen without magnification. Quite a few were minted, so they're not rare, but not entirely common either. For some reason, PCGS and others would not recognize it as a variety for a long time, but now most of the TPGs do. It's officially known as RDV-006. Lastly, the Apollo 11 re-entry vehicle contrails are super cool.

This one's for you, Domain555! I know how you love those peggers. This is my first attributed proof Peg Leg. I'm still curious as to why PCGS does not attribute this particular proof variety. I guess they don't deem it important enough for inclusion.

My newest purchase! PCGS graded 1976 D T-1. Just look at this beauty. It has a shooting star on the back too.
