One of the Christmas Ikes I received from Cascade. It's an ex-Littleton Coin cello Ike. I like it's weathered steel appearance.  |

Ok Ike fans, what the heck is this? I ran across this coin accidently while surfing the net. It appears to be a silver European(?) coin of some sort. I like it. I tried googling it but had trouble finding info.  |

It does not appear to be official legal tender for any country as near as I can tell. Looks like it was made by a private mint.
The 1952 Europa 2.5 Europinos Eisenhower Silver Half Dollar.
This Hamburg Mint issued coin is cataloged in the Krause Publications Guide to Unusual World Coins as X #11. It is an interesting piece with a dual denomination of 2.5 Europinos and a Half Dollar, as the coin has the same size and weight as the then circulating United States Half Dollar. A relatively low mintage of 10,000 of these coins were produced and this is a very nice example.

Got lucky today My CU called me today ~ first time in many many months She had 41 IKEs 37 were keepers ~~ 4 will be for tips, etc., etc. There was 2 peg legs 'bout 7-8 were BLAST WHITE most were UNCH ~~ some were AU No AG Will try to get a pic up ~~ soon |
