Being one of the older members here I remember when Ike was president. Since my Dad was in Europe during WWII he was a big supporter of Ike.

This is the only Ike I have from circulation and I've had it for years. The rest of my Ikes are Brilliant Uncirculated, Gem Proof and Proof.

GLB49, that's pretty cool that you found it in circulation. When did you find it in circulation?

My parents (who were 38 and 40 when they had me) weren't alive during Ike's presidency.

I don't know if you are aware of this, but the Democratic National Committee actually suggested that Ike run in the 1948 election, but he refused as he thought professional soldiers should stay out of politics.

@ CalzoneManiac: I was in elementary school when Eisenhower was president. I was ten years old when he completed his second term and Kennedy took over.
That's interesting about the DNC because four years later Ike ran as a Republican.

It is true. Ike was courted by members from both parties, even before the war had ended, but he refused to engage in politics at that time. His eventual journey to the White House is very interesting and I encourage everyone to read about it.

Since political discourse is forbidden here that is all I will say. No further comments are necessary.

I may have posted this one already, but GLB reminded me of it. Convenience store owner saved it for me back in November. They're still out there!
