In a mildly unrelated note, I was looking at other 20 cent pieces for sale on the Bay and found this seller rarecoinwholesalersca http://shop.ebay.com/rarecoinwholes...trksid=p4340. Holy crap! Those are some mighty bold BIN prices given the 0 feedback.

After some thought and the input of the forum members, which is always greatly appreciated,I think I was too mean to the 1875-S. Rather than boring, I'm now thinking of it as safe. It's the only 20 Cent that isn't really worth counterfeiting....so it's looking better and better all the time :)

it being the only coin of the series worth counterfeiting and the seller has no return policy and he says he found it in a box of coins makes you want it? More power to ya I guess I wouldn't want it without some type of guarantee because by the time it got back from the TPG in a body bag your time limit could be up from paypal unless you shipped it out right away. Still more of a chance than I would want to take especially with the added pictures he has added, its definitely been cleaned so getting it in a problem free slab is out of the question. As far as the 8 in the date as a indicator of authenticity, here is a replica that has the same feature so thats not a good indicator to me http://cgi.ebay.com/Replica-1877-Si...ns_W0QQitemZ250584495693QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCoins_US_Individual?hash=item3a57fff64d

pinenut, rarecoinwholesalersca is an individual named Steve Contursi that deals in high end coins . I am guessing he is just sparking interest in the coins so people will go to his website to purchase the coins or he is trying to start a new ebay name for some reason. I am sure if you google the name without the ca (probably stands for California) on the end you will see this is the one who purchased the king of siam coins pictured here
1877-20-Cent-Piece.....genuine? What I do not like is they make you create a sign up name to even see the inventory on their site but hey they are probably the same thing you can see in his ebay auctions here
