Nice notes everyone!

2 questions...

daviscfad
there is more than one note in that protector (with no serial), what is/are the other(s)?

zeewool
I spent an hour online today trying to find out what that symbol after the serial number (in place of the block letter) is and what it means. What is it?

The eagle's SN is listed in Sullivan's book (page 123). Congrats.

Not to sound paranoid - But you may want to add some sort of ID to that photo somewhere in the center both sides and block that pcgs cert number. Some of the unscrupulous characters are taking some of these pics of rare notes and doing commerce over the net. Check the "near disaster" that took place over on collector's forum recently.

Davis, is the SN on the reverse or is this one of those that totally missed the overprint? Thanks

Peace

Would not the barcode also need to be removed?

Ceylon, thanks for the advice, I have done as you say.
This type of deceptive scamming has been done many times before, with notes and coins both in and out of holders. This particular note is not that pretty, and it would be an easy matter to show only a nice note, rotate the back, and claim invert. The problem with that is that large size inverts are decidedly rare, and are known by serial number. The only way to stop this sort of thing is for everyone to do similar things with all notes.
Again, thanks for your concern in the matter, I will attempt to be more vigilant in the future.

There is a dealer on collector's who does something to his photo's (forget the guys name). Just look around there and see what he does. Nickleman has a good point as well.

Sorry folks for the slight detour here. We should be back on topic after this. Thanks

Peace

Yes, thanks Ceylon, I also post on CU, but not as zeewool. A good many folks there do similar things to their notes, but I have always been too lazy.

There were a good many 'characters' used in conjunction with the serials on early large sized notes, but none had any special significance or meaning beyond being the suffix. Sometimes on very early notes of certain series, characters were used as prefixes as well, but the particular character shown on this early black eagle is the only such character used as a prefix as far as I can recall.

After you have seen this post David, I will delete it, so the thread will remain error pure.

My only other error note, a fold-over cutting error. I got it from my shop's bid board last year for $15, the 2nd Printing Shift error previously posted was pulled from circulation

Not sure the series in which the 4 ending zero's stopped. Some consider these as errors.

I started laughing today when I ran across this note, it looks worse in hand than in this scan. Thought I'd share it for your amusement. An abused 1969 C

Hi, my stepson has a one dollar bill that is off-set and cut larger than usual. He is wondering where he can find out if it is worth more than $1. Any help with this will be appreciated.
