"Well, for a few minutes, until the price of feed goes up again (unless we're talking about grass-fed beef). Has anyone in the last 200 years ever seen the cost of feed go down? Don't think so."

100% it sure does move up and down. When fuel along with fertilizer is cheap the price goes down. Seed can float some too. So in fact there have been many good years for lower cost of feed.

I don't know many local farms that buy 100% of there feed. So if my planting cost are lower than last year then my cost for feed is lower. Again it depends on the market for fuel, fertilizer, lime, week killers and of course seed.

Mike's Coins is delectably trashy.

i read a bunch of the older posts about him that you put up, and actually laughed. I mean, it sucks to deal with someone like that but the utter shamelessness of that guy is really something a bit rare.

i mean come on: messing with you over on rolls of pennies, finally refunding you months later, and THEN having the nerve to send you an advertisement trying to sell you those same pennies again!

As apparently an email that we sent out got to this board again I wanted to clarify a few things.

1. First, we do not do business on ebay and have not done so in 2 years. We send emails to our old mailing list and get paid by several coin dealers to promote their ebay listings. The ebay accounts referenced in this post are not owned by us, but rather probably affiliates of ours through our ad network. Most of the dealers we deal with eventually realize that the cost and trouble of selling on ebay is not worth it and do not sell on ebay anymore, but if anyone on this list is a coin dealer on ebay and wants us to promote your listings, please contact me.

2. As for any issues with taking payments from Paypal, you should know that we are a named contributing member of a class action suit against Paypal for illegally holding over $70,000 of our funds. This is the primary reason we had problems with refunds during a period between August 2008 and February 2009. Our ebay account was not banned due to anything other than not paying the bill, which was impossible as Paypal took our money. This has happened to thousands of other sellers which is why the class action litigation was filed. If anyone is interested in more information also please contact me.

3. As for our core business, we are proud to have a A+ rating currently from the BBB with only 1 complain in the past 36 months. We have many wonderful customers buy direct from us through our website, but never through ebay.
Rest in Peace

Thanks for the response, mkfarm. Obviously you're now in a better position to observe what's going on with farmers than I am - considering that I left the farm in 1976 for good. It was always a "grumble" point with farmers when they got together (not easy, considering a farmer's 12-hour + work day) that feed prices always stayed the same even if the markets went down, and when we topped the Kansas City market with our feeder pigs, which we did nearly every time we sent them to market, we could expect the price of feed to move up in response. I'm glad to hear that feed prices have been floating up and down, and I'm delighted to discover that you have a little time to relax with coin collecting these days.
