the copper came out of the Lincoln Cent in mid 1982, and no, I do not think people were that upset because there weren't many collectors back then

Right, I meant the reverse design change in 1959, and the copper in mid '82.

Also to a large extent people didn't get upset because they copper plated the zinc and even today many people do not realize that they took the copper out.

Composition changed in 1982 - the reverse changed in 1959.
