Can anyone tell me what they paid for some of the prepackaged coin inventory software? And what you like and don't like about some of them?
As a seller we use Microsoft Access to handle about 9,000 active listings at any given time, buy/sell prices, shipping, etc, etc. I am wondering what collectors specifically would want out of inventory software themselves.

Liberty Street Coin Manager is great for US or Canadian but they got lost on World Coins. Even the Mexican is very lacking with many types not listed and none have pictures. They provide some basics in a strange assortment of countries like Australia, France, Switzerland, Germany etc but no pictures at all, you would have to add your own to the database.
After paying for 6 years of upgrades I really thought they would add more to it.
I guess that it is easier just to update US / Canadian Prices and save the time for cashing the checks for the software orders and upgrades.
Oh I forgot the Download Price is $49.95 and Currency Manager is the same price and it also does mostly US / Canadian Currency

I looked at several of the options mentioned in terms of coin collecting software, and despite their neatoness factor, I finally decided I will use Excel for awhile. I practically live in Excel so it will be comfortable. The downside is I will probably record a lot of information I ultimately find I don't need, and not record some things I will need or want. I just don't want the software learning curve right now, because my mountain of coins and bills that I have finally decided to catalog would suffer, and that is my near term goal.

I have a spreadsheet that I use that tracks what I have and what I need and one I started that shows the purchase price and date of purchase for my coins. Once you set it up it's pretty easy to use....as long as you keep it up! lol

Since we have quite a few "expert" on Excel/spreadsheet on here, I have this idea/proposal that I need your help:
Since we all buy and some do sell coins therefore there's a need to inventorize. This kind/type of spreadsheet would contain: the date/mm/condition/country of the coins as well as price and date of purchase, optional info would be metal content and seller/buyer of the coin. I assume this would all sort by date of transaction.
On the other hand, as collectors, we would like to know the "completeness" of our collection so this kind of spreadsheet would contain: the date/mm/condition/country/quantities/value (not price paid/sold) of each coin. This would be organize by country-denomination-date-mm-condition (in this order). Value of each coin change over time so one may skip that part.
Here's the key problem: (No one want to duplicate the work) So, we will enter all our transactions into the first spreadsheet and NEED it to transfer/replicate to the second spreadsheet for "cataloging" purpose without us duplicating the work. In another word, how do you program Excel to copy/replicate and input all the data into the second spreadsheet once you've provided those data on the first spreadsheet. Is there such a program and/or alternative to Excel that can do such job but not too complex and too costly?

Under the EDIT menu, you can "move or copy sheet". This will bring up a dialog box where you can choose to copy it into a new workbook or worksheet. That might do what you want.

My intention is to have that done automatically (ie: automation). Thank you though.

Let's call your first sheet Sheet1 and your second sheet Sheet2.
On Sheet2 (or whatever you name your second sheet), input the following formula into cell A1:
=Sheet1!A1
This will make Sheet2 cell A1 always equal to sheet1 cell A1. Just copy and paste this cell throughout the entire sheet 2, and you will end up with a second sheet that matches the first. The copy and paste will adjust the coordinates of the excel sheet to match where you are copying to. So if you copy that formula into B2, your forumla will read =Sheet1!B2 for this cell.
If you only want the first four rows of sheet2 to match sheet1, then just copy that cell into columns A through D. Then you can write whatever values you want into columns E through ZZ, and it wont mess anything up.
