What is that loupe in the middle between the two loupes? Is it the 10x you mentioned to me?

Found this site but its in Florida even though I googled Canadian suppliers! This one looks good for my hands to grasp and is 5x and 10x too: FL-5-10x 5x-10x Folding Double Lens Coin Loupe http://www.magnifier.com/coin_magnifiers.htm

What is that mediumsized black loupe, top right, beside the handle of the handheld? I've seen them called fabric loupes.

Interesting! Where does "fabric" tie in though? I don't understand the connection between loupes and the word "fabric". So much to learn

Dottir, I would stay under 15x because they start to get blurry and the lens gets real small. I also like glass lens over plastic. Is there any coin shops near you?,you might get to try some out before you buy. John1

I think that's called a "linen tester". They are used to determine the thread count of fabric. They are hard to use for coins, because the optics aren't as good as loupes with double or triple lenses. Linen tester:

John1,
Nope. No coin shops. I've asked around at local businesses, including the local pawn shop. I even called a local jewelers place to see if they had a spare on hand and asked if they knew where I could find a loupe or any effective magnifying glass in town. They had no knowledge of anyone selling them in town.
You know, when things like this happen, trying to locate a useful item in a small town that's not available, I get flashes of "I should start being a supplier of hard to find little items for hobbies etc" Maybe I'll thunk more on that idea as a possibility to generate a little income and be a source for locals. I know coin collector supplies and tools sure don't exist so far, nor do a lot of arts and crafts tools and supplies ;) Sorry, went off topic o a tangent here!
