If you are a collector, do not worry about value. Do whatever will make you happy! They are your coins.
How and where you store them is very important. I have seen some nasty toning on OGP housed proof sets as well (even those from the 70's and 80's where tampering would be more evident). They are not air tight.
But do not take my word for it. I have nothing to gain by your choices. My coins are my coins and I want to view them the way I want to view them!
