Mostly all good advise has already been given here. For one thing you should never even open emails sent to you by someone you don't know or a company you requested to send you something. Many, many viruses are associated with such emails. Also, if someone knows your email address, the next step is where you live. Be carefull. Do not open emails you do not know who sent them. DELETE.
As already noted first purchase a copy of the
Red Book. Do not buy the latest version though. All prices in that book are excessive so a 3 year old version would be a little more accurate. If you can not find an older version, then with a newer one just deduct about 20%+ from any prices shown.
The same is basically true of the PCGS price listings. Those too are exdessive so people would think their coins are worth having slabbed.
Already as noted
ebay probably is the best place for prices since if a coin is sold for XXX, then that is what it is worth, regardless of any price guides.
Also, as already noted you really should consider a safe deposit box for at least now. For some reason people are finding out about your coins since you get emails about them. Too your posting info here but this should be considered a safer place to discuss coins. Never give out your home phone, address, real name or anything that could end up in a home invasion. Always better to be safe than sorry.
Mostly if you do not need the money right now, I suggest you really take your time and evaluate what you have. As noted already, stick around here and get to know what is good, bad, not smart, etc. Keep asking questions. You may not get the greatest answers but you usually do get answers.
Again, I can not stress enough not to open emails you do not know where they came from. Do not discuss coins with people you do not know.
Or just have me come over to your place and take them all away for free. Then no more problems.
