Congrats! I hear what you're saying about the buttons. You're gonna love it though and don't expect you'll be coming up for air for a couple weeks.

I do not have a macro lens yet, it came with the factory 18-55mm lens and a 50mm 1:1.8 lens. I have no idea which one would be best for which shots but need to play with it to find out. Also since you have a canon dSLR camera, when I have the camera tethered to the computer I do not see the picture I am about to shoot until after it takes the picture and also noticed I just point the pointer to the shutter button (without clicking it) and it takes the picture. Do I have some settings wrong or something? Also is there any other software I need to get off the canon site since this didn't come with any of the disc's?

Don't have much of a clue as to lenses. I'm using the 18-55mm also and use it at the full 55mm. Have ordered a macro extension tube which I've been told will do the job as far as zooming in closer. Trying anything under 55mm starts giving me focus problems. I don't think that software allows you to see the coin on your zoombrowser until after you've taken the shot. At least I haven't been able to find any option for it. The video out from the camera plugged into a TV "might" allow that option but haven't checked it out. I haven't had that problem with the cameras taking the shot by just putting your mouse over the shutter button. Always have to click it. You didn't say what software you'd already downloaded but you might want to go back to the Canon site make sure you have ALL the required drivers and the latest updates. That might be a source of your mouse-over problem.

Brian1315, just a suggestion: maybe starting a new thread on tethering will be better. Also it will also let others know the subject of the thread.

HeadsIWin, think you have a point there and I havta fess up, I'm as guilty as Bryan on this. Sorry, didn't mean to hijack your thread. Did you decide to keep that SX130 or try and get something which will be able to give you the remote shooting capability?

yes, I apologize I just thought your question had ran its course since it couldn't be done with your camera and that's why I was asking the questions in here, I apologize again

I could care less about any thoughts of highjacking- my point was just that others who are interested in tethering won't know its under this thread with it's current subject heading. And my question was answered anyway- and my camera doesn't support tethering.

I found a way, if you use the EOS Utility and select "camera settings/Remote shooting" then the little screen pops up up where you can press the shutter and all, One of the buttons says "live view shooting" if you click that you can see what you are getting ready to take a picture of before you press the shutter button(at least in manual mode) Just thought I would let you know that it can be done just in case you haven't already seen it. Also wanted to add that I updated my zoombrowser and now it waits until I click the button to take the picture, when I hover if its set to auto focus it will do that with a hover over the button but waits until I press the shutter button to actually take the shot, so got that part fixed as well

Preview mode started with the 400D XTi which was next in the series. Glad you got the mouse-over problem taken care of.
