A friend recommended Gate west coin and so I usually deal with them. I can't say they're the best because I've not dealt with most places on your list but they seem to be fair.

Ever notice the coins Proof Positive (Sandy Campbell of Baddeck, N.S.) has for sale They are in the Top 5% best known. Many of which are $5,000.00+ are unattainable for most collectors, so I wonder when He lists on E-bay, is it all for show or is he really trying to sell 'em? If you peek at the seller data of his Feedback rating the majority of his coins sell for less than $1,000.00 and I've never seen any high end pieces sold on it!
Then again, Sandy doesn't need the money, he is the owner of the golf course and part owner of the Yacht Club in Baddeck, N.S. maybe he's just making us drool over his collection by putting them up fr sale on E-bay, knowing noboby will buy any....................

Matrix, how long have you been dealing with CNC? Without going into details, the track record of that coin dealer(s) is appalling. Ask them next time why they were kicked out of CAND. I am amazed that they are still in the Canadian Coin business, and even more amazed that they run auctions at major shows like Torex. Perhaps their past numismatic infractions have been forgiven by some, but not by all!

In my opinion, the best dealers are also numismatists, who care about things like how errors were formed, varieties and are eager to learn something new. That list is short in Canada.

Matrix- SPP is correct.Maybe a little research should be done on your end, they are not the most trusted in the business by most -look close at what you buy. By the way my favorite is not on the list- Bill Merkley, London Coin

Can't argue that - I'm curious too. But one thing I've learned about Canadian Numismatics, no one seems to really speak their mind. Me personally, I'm not part of the inner circle. I could care less if someone shows up with a subpoena tomorrow. By the time they clear the gamut of lawyers I'll be staring at the bottom of the sod. Besides, I don't really trust any company so nothing would radically change even if I knew all the details.

From what I've heard through the grapevine, what The Canadian Numismatic Company did 4 years ago was unbelievable/unimaginable, however, with my experience with them, I have a hard time believing it to be true. I've got the highest praise for them as well as #1 credibility and respect. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I have not one person come froward with any PROOF as to their alleged wrong doing!

A certain individual who is a large part of one of your 15 was caught switching coins in ICCS holders a lot more than 4 years ago. All people who had suspected coins submitted them to CAND and were reimbursed. The individual was expelled from CAND but that means very little, a previous President of CAND had no problem running an auction for him a few years later. ICCS did nothing to make their holders more secure and no legal action was taken. (Just cover your head with a blanky and the boogeys will go away.)Ugly, can you email me? I have a friend who would like to discuss this with you, but he's blacklisted many places for speaking truths.

Hello Zonad, I've heard this "rumour" 100 times in the past and see no truth to it! Nobody yet has come forward saying that they were the victim of this dirty deed.
However, I keep my mind and heart open, and I'm willing to hear the truth from reliable sources, not hear say evidence!

That would be very sad if true but hey any one person could do this I guess. I still prefer these guys when buying rare coins but must admit I have not tried most of these guys on this list. I just prefer the auction selection when it comes to paper money and coins when C&P conduct a auction (they just seem to have always a few things that catch my eye). I find others have not done this for me.

Although I know the currency museum buys it's coins from C&P when trying to locate a rare to very rare coin. I have spoken to the curator there and I am friends with him since about 5 years.

I agree Matrix, it's easy to spread stories about successful dealers out of jealousy. I've dealt with C & p for the past 10 years. Eric and Marc have always treated me well. Their coins are very pricey, however, if you want some of the finest known, you get what you pay for!
I've purchased I.C.C.S. coins that were $5,000.00 + from them in the past and none were ever disputed by me in the grade. And this being around the time these horrendous rumours surfaced.
I believe it's their competition that simply can't stand the heat and will do whatever to damage their reputation.
