This ship has sailed. Outside of the issues of skill in grading, the value of the actual case design and all the real stuff that matters, the issues of marketing and branding make it impossible to break in at this point.

The only people that could launch a successful TPG service at this point are other large corporate numismatic entities that already have established brand recognition.

But if you think PCGS prices are bad, just imagine someone like Littleton running their own TPG service lol.

While TPG prices may seem high, if you carefully consider the direct and indirect costs of grading a single coin, the price may seem more reasonable.

Also, since there is plenty of competition, the TPG's have to worry about maintaining or growing market share. I'd think that competition would keep prices fairly reasonable.
