Grading Indian Head Eagles
Below are the typical grading standards for Indian Head Eagles.
VF20 Very Fine- Bonnet feathers worn near band. Wear visible on high points of hair.
EF40 Extremely Fine- Slight wear on cheekbone and headdress feathers. Slight wear visible on eagle's and left wing.
AU50 About Uncirculated- Trace of wear on hair above eye and on forehead.
AU55 Choice About Uncirculated- Evidence of friction on design high points. Much of original mint luster present.
MS60 Uncirculated- No trace of wear. Light blemishes.
MS63 Choice Uncirculated- Some distracting contact marks or blemishes in prime focal areas. Impaired luster possible.
