VG8 Very Good
- Obverse: Cap is outlined at top. Hair and cheek are smooth. Most of LIBERTY is visible. Hardly any details show in stars. Reverse: Eagle shows very little detail.F12 Fine
- Obverse: Headband edges are worn. Hair is outlined with very little detail. Half the detail in the stars is visible. Ear is outlined only. LIBERTY is complete but some letters are weak. Reverse: Some of the wing and neck feathers are visible. Head is almost smooth but shows some detail. Some details in shield are visible.VF20 Typical Very Fine
- Obverse: Hair is outlined with some detail showing. Most detail in stars is visible. Earlobe is worn. Reverse: Half of wing and neck feathers are visible.VF30 Choice Very Fine
- Obverse: Light wear on edges of headband. Light wear on hair from LIBERTY to date but most details show. Earlobe shows wear. Liberty is bold. Reverse: Three quarters of wing and neck feathers are visible. Half of shield details are visible.EF40 Typical Extremely Fine
- Obverse: Hair is well defined with light wear on the high points. Slight wear on cheek. Stars are sharp with all details visible. Reverse: Light wear on wings, feathers, neck, and head. Shield shows very light wear but is well defined. Traces of mint luster shows.EF45 Choice Extremely Fine
- Obverse: There is light wear on the high points of the hair. Trace of wear on cheek. Reverse: Light wear on wings, head, and feathers. Surface: Part of mint luster may be present.AU50 Typical About Uncirculated
- Obverse: There is a trace of wear on high point of hair, above the eye, and on the ear. Reverse: Traces of wear on the wings and head. Surface: Some of the mint luster is still present.AU55 Choice About Uncirculated
- Obverse: There is a trace of wear on the highest point of the hair and above the eye. Reverse: Trace of wear visible on wings. Surface: Much of mint luster is present.AU58 Very Choice About Uncirculated
- Has some signs of wear on Liberty's hair and the eagle's breast.MS60 Uncirculated
- A strictly uncirculated coin with no trace of wear, but with blemishes more obvious than MS63. Has full mint luster but may lack brilliance. Surface may be lightly marred by minor bag marks and abrasions.MS63 Choice Uncirculated
- A mint state coin with attractive mint luster, but noticeable detracting contact marks or minor blemishes.MS65 Gem Uncirculated
- No trace of wear. Nearly as perfect as MS67 except for some small blemishes. Has full mint luster and brilliance but may show slight discoloration. A few minor bag marks and surface abrasions may be present.MS67 Superb Gem Uncirculated
