As am I, and I have never purchased any gold. However, I am a fan of the Bicentennial coins.
Was hoping someone who has been at this for a long long time could offer me some wisdom concerning this medal before I make a bid lol.

I think as long as you don't get too deep into it based on melt value, it would be a nice addition to a bicentenial themed set.

I dont see it going for more than 50 dollars since shipping is free. Unless someone is craving this coin and decides it is worth much more than melt. If so, its all theirs lol. I am ALWAYS on ebay and this is the first one I have ever seen. |

$44.92 is the melt value for 10K at 2 grams, but for someone that really wants it could go for a little more.

Congrats to ya,Good deal.I'm sure it will go with your collection very nicely and for less than it takes to fill up my tank. When my tank of gas is gone,you'll still have that coin.

The big letters say Pure Gold" and the small letter say "50% Pure Gold."
Can someone please explain to this English major what "50% Pure Gold" means?

50% pure gold means .500 fine, all the way thru.
The seller is making the common mistake of confusing "pure" (parts per thousand) gold with "solid" (not just the outer layer) gold.

Sorry for not replying before/sooner SilverCoinBoi... but when I read your post(s) before, you seemed to have the matter well in hand. Later posts I did not see 'till now. Anyway, here's a bad picture with the C.O.A. of mine VVV  I haven't taken mine apart to weigh, but I will post the specs that I have below... shortly.  >>>edit >>> okay, not much to add, but all I have for specs are, "US BICENTENNIAL GOLD MEDAL 10kt 1.55 GRAM 20mm w COA". I can see this is one of those in between things,posts/listings where the real truth is not entirely stated by the sellers, hoping for over the top bidders who know nothing...In this case they would not be lying..to say pure gold...one must know and research, just how pure the content is to value the money your spending against the actual gold content within the coin is...
This is a "loop hole" in the buyers be ware point of view...
as its not "plated" it is deemed pure gold.. and while a "ring" must disclose its carat value.. coins NEVER HAVE...
have... so it is "BUYER BEWARE"...and know or learn what you are buying to understand your investment values...
