I was able to sell my 5 sets for $3600, so $720 per set. I decided to liquidate now as I think the prices will be highest while there is a feeding frenzy from all the collectors and dealers. My girlfriend got 3, so I still have one to hold onto as I do enjoy the collecting aspect as well. If the price goes up, I'm still happy, if down, I'm really happy. Long term, I would estimate around $550-$650. It's hard to compare the 2006 set. The reverse proof is worth about $250 which makes up the vast majority of the set's value. However, with this set, you can't just say, that set tripled, so will this set or more as it's a lower mintage. As the set gets more expensive, fewer people are willing to pay that much per set. I think there will be very strong collector demand around the $500 mark, but the sets will probably end up closer to $600-$650. In essence, if you buy the set later, you will really only be paying for the two unique coins.

@ mr_slow: What is your reasoning if I may ask? Are you thinking this is still a good buy situation and the prices will continue to climb?

It took 10 months for the 20th anniversary set prices to peak, should be the same with these. Of course, the first few days here is just pure coin addiction, throw a couple of beers in on a Friday night and it's just something people have got to have. Tonight I'm seeing 725-825 for individual sets.

So now a lot of members are getting their sets.

If your selling your extra sets what price are you getting?

I you did not get a set .. and your buying .. what did/are you paying.

I missed getting my sets today .. I will stay home all day tomorrow to get the package.
I am still not sure what to do with my 5 sets.

Well, I have no idea what they will eventually be worth, but I am now getting an idea what a graded site set can be worth. I saw a set graded MS69 by NGC go for $1275 last night on ebay, and the same seller now has a set of MS70 coins with a buy it now price of over $1900.

I suspect that had I sent in my sets to be graded they would have come back as a mixture of grades, and perhaps even lower than MS69, but it still makes me think that maybe I should have gone that route after all...

I have been sending in ASE's to be graded for many years now and I can say it is EXTREMELY rare to get anything below MS69 on collector coins (PF's and W's). Bullion coins from a Mint tube are another issue.

Those MS69 prices will make grading VERY worthwhile and that 70 set at $1900 is a major bargain....

I will add that prices for graded sets available now are NOT a market indicator as there are way too few sets available. Wait a couple of weeks when they all start showing up for sale.

A normal market for these high demand products initially sees a spike in prices as those who didn't get sets feel the need to get one "before the price goes up"

Then as more sets come on the market it becomes saturated and prices drop as the market tries to find a real base price. Right now it is just the raw set market that is developing. There are not enough graded sets out there yet.

Months later, as the market matures AND there continues to be collector demand, a true price level will emerge. This price could be anywhere.

I will add that the raw set market price hung in there much longer than I thought with all those sets hitting the streets at the same time. This bodes well for the graded sets since there were a LOT of open sets and key coins for sale excluding them from full set grading...

I think these will be long term big winners but don't be surprised to see a temporary drop very soon...it will be a great buying opportunity for those needing sets.

I picked up my 5 sets from the Post Office today. I can't imagine why the box is so heavy. I will leave it sealed for now until I decide what to do with it. I had originally planned to keep 2 and sell 3, all raw, but after seeing some of the prices I am just not sure now. I am quite tempted to send them to PCGS. It is difficult not to open the box.

Maybe they sent you 10 sets instead of 5.... Nah, the sets are heavy. They are around 3lbs a piece according to the box weight

As long as there are 2 unique coins in the set, the value will keep up nicely.

However, if it turns out there is a third unique coin, it gets even better.
