I think he was suggesting that you just get Presidential dollars from a "fresh" roll at the bank. Get all 43 dollars and add on a dasco album you will get roughly $65. Thats my best guess, anyways. But I think I will just get a full roll of each and skip the album for now.

I could be wrong, but I don't think getting the coins from banks will be a problem.

I'm like others I will get rolls from the bank and not buy from some telemarketers that quadruple the price because of the fancy advertising and the fancy paper and cardboard containers they put them in. Actually doesn't add any value in saving them.

Distributed through Banks and Other Financial Institutions

The United States Mint and the Federal Reserve System are working in partnership to make it easy for businesses and members of the general public to obtain the new coins as they are released. The Presidential $1 Coins will be shipped to banks and other financial institutions in rolls, unmixed with other dollar coins. For each new design, banks may order and store the coins up to two weeks prior to the introduction so they will have supplies on hand on the release date. The coins will be available in unmixed rolls for four weeks after the introduction of each design. When each new Presidential $1 Coin is released, the special ordering process begins again.

I saw that Brent-Krueger will be selling them at $2.45. I came across it when looking for coin software. There is also a nice write up and release schedule in there. I think the link is way down on the left side of the page. I know nothing about the company, and I don't think it states what condition the coins will be in, but if you can't buy a roll from a bank, it sure is better than $20......

I dunno ... When I bought rolls of Sacs from the banks, I couldn't find one single coin that was clean enough to put in my collection. Way too many bag marks to suit my taste. I'd bet the President dollars will be the same way, unless you get the mint sets or proof sets.

From what I see, mint sells 25 coin roll for 35.50 for the current golden dollar pre mint mark with 10 dollar prtenium. If you are going to only keep one or two, you will pay $5 to 6 a pop. If that is the case, going to a local coin shop and paying $3 dollar a pop is a good deal.

No thanks.

I think I'll just get the new Dansco for the series that will have the same picture and info as those cards. You collect the coins yourself but the total price will be about $65 when your done.

how did you figure $65 - I can find no prices on the mint site yet

38 coins from the bank for $38. The full retail price of the Dansco is $27.95. Total $65.95
You can usually find the Dansco for less than full price and you can pay more for the coins by pulling them from mint sets. Either way your gonna beat the $800 plus price by far. I really doubt that Fleetwood is pulling their coins from mint sets.

With this price, why not just get the silver proof version? At least, there are some real silver in them!

So far the Silver President dollar coins are a no go, and I doubt Congress will act in time to make them a reality.

I'm angry at the Fleetwood people.
I ordered a crown size album in blue. The one they sent was all scratched up inside so I sent it back. Then they called me saying that it couldn't be replaced since they were discontinuing the line. They offered me either a refund or the same old damaged album for the full price. I asked them if they had it in burgundy instead and they said yes, but I would have to pay for it as a separate order.
I don't see why I have to bear the brunt of the costs for their mistakes.

In this area, once the initial hype has settled, you won't find a roll of these dollars at any bank. They won't call them out and will not order them even if you offer to pre-pay. Our banks HATE coinage so we will be forced to buy from the mint or organize a group of collectors to purchase, as a group, what is needed from the mint and distribute by mail as needed which will probably drive the cost of each $1 coin to about $2.50 by the time it is done. I can already figure a roll of 25 coins from the mint will be $40 with shipping so the $2.00 to $2.50 cost is pretty accurate.

Bruce 1947 is correct. Until the Government gets the guts to get rid of the $1 bill, the situation will never change. Why should it?
