Quote: All right, I've been trying to come up with a better, less confusing way to showcase my 7070 album and, thanks to the magic of Photoshop, I came up with this... Well done! I do like how the obverse and reverse are together.

Nice set! Did you place the [Proof] markers on your pages, or is this an updated version of the 7070?

As noted at the top of the page: Quote: Please note that I have done a little cutting and pasting within Photoshop so that the reverse of every coin is displayed immediately beneath the obverse, instead of on a separate page. Also, text within brackets was added by me and does not appear on the album itself. Actually, in order to get everything to line up correctly, I replaced every single bit of text in every picture...

All right, I'm still making minor upgrades, both to the coins themselves as well as to my presentation of them: My 7070 AlbumI recently picked up better examples of the following: - A Steel Wheat Cent (I'm pretty sure mine had been either re-plated or chromed)
- A proof Lincoln Memorial Cent (my old one had a nice fat fingerprint on it due to my own carelessness.
- A proof clad Washington Quarter (my old one was pulled from pocket change and I decided to replace it with a nice proof example).
- A halfway decent "Coronet" Large Cent (my old one was almost unrecognizable and I forgot about upgrading it when I went to the coin show last month).
[None of these cost much to replace -- the Large Cent was $25 and the rest were all about $1 apiece -- but they needed to be upgraded.] In addition to the new coins, I did the following with my presentation: - I rephotographed a number of the coins and then digitally inserted them back into the album. This allowed me to adjust the lighting and color for each coin individually to better effect. I've only done this with a small fraction of the coins, but will probably do more as time permits.
- I digitally added an entirely new hole in the half dollar section for my "Liberty Seated 1853 with Arrows & Rays." I recently updated the coin in the standard "Liberty Seated 1853-55 Arrows" hole and didn't realize until later that I had replaced a version that had rays with one that didn't have them (in fact, I didn't even realize there were two separate types for that year). The original coin is very worn, but the rays are very visible and I think it warrants its own hole. And now I definitely need to find a better example!

All right, I don't know if anybody is still reading this thread (or even interested in it), but while I was at it I also decided to replace my Bullion Silver American Eagle with a Proof version and added a new digital hole for the 2011 SAE Reverse Proof that came with the 25th Anniversary Set. Obviously, the Reverse Proof isn't actually in the album itself, but I still thought it would be nice to diplay it along with everything else.

Thanks! As I said, photographing each coin outside of the album and then digitally re-inserting it makes a huge difference.

And the upgrade continues... I decided to swap the Morgan dollar and Peace dollar in the album for some better examples I had from AU/BU rolls. I thought of putting in one of my beloved Proof-like Morgan dollars, but I really don't want to risk anything happening to it. I also swapped the standard Eisenhower dollar and Kennedy half dollar with a nicer examples that I had laying around. I've also continued with the rephotographing effort. Today I did all the gold coins and I think they look much nicer now. Definitely a lot clearer! I also reshot the Walking Liberty through Kennedy half dollars, the Trade dollar and the Liberty Head ("Barber") Quarter. As I take the high-resolution photos, it really lets me see which coins need to be replaced at some point. The reason I swapped out the Eisenhower dollar and Kennedy half dollar, for example, was because I noticed a lot of milk spots and fingerprints in the photo that I didn't see with my naked eye. It can be a bit frustrating to discover that coins you thought were nearly perfect aren't even close, but in the end it will be worth it. Somebody early on mentioned that it might be better to use older Commemorative Half Dollars instead of modern ones. At first, I didn't think it made a difference, but as I've done a little research into the early commemoratives I think I now agree. I had no many there were so many out there! Unfortunately, the ones I have my eyes on are a bit on the expensive side (I'm talking about you, Pilgrim!) I guess I can put those on my future "to buy" list, along with an updated Barber quarter, an updated 1853 Liberty Seated dollar with Arrows & Rays, an updated 20-cent piece, etc., etc., etc. If nothing else, it gives me some things to look for at the next coin show I hit...

Absolutely amazing set. Actually, it was your set that inspired me to start my 7070 about 2 weeks ago!

Thanks, and it's nice to know I was an inspiration. This set was really the best thing that happened to me as a neophyte collector and I take great joy in constantly upgrading both the coins and their photographs. I could never choose a single type of coin to focus on, and discovering the existence of the 7070 album was truly an epiphany for me.

Great Job! Put me on the list of people inspired to start a 70/70 from this thread. Just need to finish my Lincolns first.
