Here's my thing... I've been collecting since the early 80's. Those types of rollers didn't become available until at least the mid 90's. So best case scenario, that roll was created in 1995ish...

If the seller didn't personally create the roll then there's no way he can know what's inside the roll. As far as he knows it could be anything and in all likelihood due to the creation date of the rollers IT SHOULD BE FULL OF ZINC LINCOLNS. How does he know that the roll is full of wheat pennies unless he was the one that put them there? If you get the roll from him and it contains primarily wheats, THEN YOU KNOW HE SEARCHED (and created) THE ROLL.

I really don't care what people buy, what bothers me about this is the way they're being sold... If a person wants to buy a roll of whatever with a vdb and a Seated dime on the end so be it. But to claim they're unsearched is just Bull$*#. To me it's just a way for a dealer to get rid of a bunch of not quite crap.

In my entire life I've only come across one collection of pennies that I would have considered unsearched. When I was 22 years old there was a bank in Foyil Okla that was closing it's doors. They had 3 $50 bags of pennnies in their vault that had tags on them saying they were delivered at some point in the early 60's (I want to say 63). To this day I kick myself for not buying those 3 bags.

Nice points you brought up there.

Let us know what you get though. I've seen several people buy these rolls and the best coins in the roll are almost always the end coins, which leads me to believe they are seeded.

These are so obviously 'put-together' to have those coins on the ends. I wouldn't have any more idea than the next person what's inside, but it looks like junk with goodies on the ends. Given that, I would buy the roll based on the end-coins ONLY.

what really sold me on this one is that it looks rolled on both sides.

I wouldn't get too hung up on that...

Good-Buy?

Theses things have been around a while now and I have yet to hear of anyone finding anything worthwhile in them

The dime is only worth about melt in that condition (you can be sure it's not an S), and the 09VDB could be AU and the seller would still come out ahead. The rest is almost guaranteed to be older date culls or common crap.

No returns or exchanges, but item is covered by ebay Buyer Protection- opens in a new window or tab.

Always watch for this notation. If that roll is full of washers, the seller can always say I didn't know. That is the way I got them. They are Unopened by me so that is why I don't accept returns.

The dime is about 10-15 bucks value. Given the 09 and probably a couple keepers in it, I would say likely OK. As mentioned, pay based on the ends and you will be good on these.

If you did get one then congratulations! One thing to know is that these guys will periodically put in a valuable coin so that they can "show off" the great finds people make from their rolls. In the end you can be certain that the seller is making money off the rolls in general, and selling a few at a loss is just part of the business plan.

By the way, VDB was only on 1909 cents. However, the 1909 S VDB is one of the most highly counterfeited coins out there, so your next step will be to authenticate it.

Neat roll pman. I've bought 10+ of these from various sellers, and yours yielded better finds than all mine. I paid no more than $10, but only one was loaded with IHC's.
