It seems seriously fishy. The price is 27.95 plus $2 s&h per coin, and I note that some of the coins mentioned include clad Kennedy Halfs: Quote:Coins minted after 1963 will be offered in brilliant uncirculated condition. Coins minted up to and including 1963 will be offered in Very Good (VG) Collector's Condition due to scarcity. Barber, Walking Liberty and Franklin half dollars were minted in 90% silver; Kennedy half dollars were minted in silver, copper and nickel Additionally, their "free wooden case" only seems to have 48 slots (there were hundreds of types of silver half dollars issued between 1900 and 1999 if you include differing mints and proofs) and their propensity to refer to them as "commemorative coins" makes me twitch (as the coins mentioned are not commemoratives; they don't speak the lingo properly). Too many red flags. Walk away from it! :-)

How many "Issues" do you need to buy before they throw in a free SHAMWOW or SLAPCHOPPER?

I can't see how $30/coin for common date coins is a good deal...even the silver ones are worth only $11 and the newer ones .50
The coins are real..no need to use fake coins.

It would only be a good deal if the price of silver suddenly soared to, say, $100/ounce and the prices were locked in. It could happen, I suppose...

Ah, I didn't see that it said "$27 each issue" at first, I thought the whole 100 coin set was being sold for $27.
So yeah, probably real coins, but still an AWFUL deal.

Ugh, these "deals" have been around since the beginning of time. It's not geared towards the likes of you and me or even the casual numismatist, but to John and Jane Q. Hoarder, who can afford to shell out $30/month so they can leave something "nice" to the grandkids, yet not know the first thing about coins. These are the same kind of "exclusive" sets that are hawked at flea markets at multiples of book value, after they've been shown to a local coin dealer and been told the distressing truth. That's when conspiracy theorists kick in, the coin market must be fixed and all dealers are crooks! The gold plated State Quarters was another awesome "deal." Your $30 is better spent on a 1oz silver round or bar, IMO.

do the math then see if its worth it to you... Just read the thing carefully it clearly states your getting a single example of each year and it appears a philly mint mark as no pics show a mint mark and none of the literature states any mint marks other than plain date.
I agree with others that state it is a real deal because the best coin will come 100 months from now after you have paid 2795.00 for the set.

Each coin or issue comes every other month thats 200 months to get all the coins, so your set will be complete in just under 17 years !

Quote: Just read the thing carefully it clearly states your getting a single example of each year I specifically looked for language to that effect and couldn't find it. I am sure they intend that though. They say that the coins from before 1963 will be in VG condition. There are only a few issues in VG that would be a deal at the $30 price. You can bet that you're not going to get any of those if they do a one per year set. And even if you were able to force them to stand behind the claim in their ad to provide "every silver half dollar issued from 1900 to 1999," there are so MANY that you will lose a bundle on that they would still make money. Just look at the first five shipments. A Bicentennial half, a 1963 Franklin, a wood box, a 2000 Kennedy and a 1995 Kennedy. Total value maybe $25. Total cost $150. They say there will be a complete set of Kennedy halves. If they include business strkes and proofs and the silver proofs that means 10 90% halves ($99 value for $300), 11 40% silver halves ($60 value for $330) and 84 clad halves ($50 value for $2520) You will spend over $3,000 for a 1964 to 1999 Kennedy set and take seventeen years to complete it. I would expect them to concentrate on sending you the Kennedy's with one of the earlier issues our of ever five or so just to keep stringing you along.

It would be a long time and a lot of wasted money before even your first coin that is actually worth $30. the 1921 would probably be the last one shipped, long after you quit the program.
