A quick check on ebay shows that the Effigy Mounds one is available in OGP w/ COA for around $225.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Apologies for dredging this topic up but I feel like it's a decent revisit, particularly with jbuck's most recent comment: Quote:Everyone who stacks silver deserves to profit.. even the Mint! That and with current silver spot, and that it's been just over 5 years since the last Proof puck was issued (Tuskegee), it's a good time. Speaking of stacking, I never thought of this collection of Proof ATB pucks a stack by any means. I stack other silver but the US Mint premiums on these didn't makes sense for stacking. However, given current silver prices, has anyone besides me started to consider their collection of Proof 3-inch ATB pucks a stack? Not gonna lie, when Ag was $100+, it was tempting. Given the fun I had collecting them over the years and contributing to this topic, that would be a tough transition for me. But hey, the memories (or at least my spreadsheet) would still would be there, and that physical silver could be converted into a lot of useful things in the here and now. Just thinking out loud I suppose. Has anyone else liquidated their P-Pucks? Or thought about it, at least?

I never had an actual collection. But in 2014 I bought 2 each of the first four issues. I was spending quite a lot (more than I should've) on coins and silver in the first half of the 2010's. I didn't get the final 2014 issue (Everglades), because that November my job of 25 years went belly up / locked the doors for good. And I ended up selling all eight of those ATB 5-ouncers. C'est la vie

Thanks for sharing, @Victor_Ze. Sorry to hear about your job (back then) and hope you have since been able to get back into collecting.

I have 7 numismatic pucks, from 2014, 15, 16. Paid the issue price of $149.95. Stopped the subscription and instead directed those $150 chunks on a regular basis into my kid's 529 plan. In Janury 2026, I looked at ebay sold prices for the pucks and they were in the $495 - $550 range + shipping. Their "melt" value at $80 / oz is roughly $2,800. Did not consider selling them.

I wish I had started buying these 'back-in-the-day' but now it is probably a bit too late to start.

I bet half of these have been melted with the recent run up in silver

Quote: I bet half of these have been melted with the recent run up in silver Wouldn't surprise me either. That then begs the question, does that potentially increase numismatic value towards silver spot as they get more scarce? Pretty sure that question has been posed elsewhere.

I don't believe there were any proof 5 oz ATB Quarters, I have a few of the uncirculated and bullion ones, and wouldn't mind picking up a couple more I had an interest in and missed if anyone is ever looking to get out at around spot.

I'm also wondering whether the bullion versions have any collectible value above spot the way the uncirculated ones supposedly do. And even for the uncirculated ones, has the price of silver gotten so high that the silver value outweighs the collectible value?
I have a complete set of the pucks that I keep in a nice cabinet specifically built to hold them. Most are the bullion versions, but one year (2011) I bought the uncirculated pucks instead for reasons I can no longer remember. If I ever decided to sell the set, would I be better off selling the uncirculated ones separately for a higher value and then the rest as pure bullion, or would anybody pay extra to get a whole set (even if 5 were uncirculated instead of bullion like the rest)? I'm guessing the former but, as I said, I have no idea if the uncirculated ones from 2011 have any extra value above spot price these days.

If you are stacking, melting makes no sense. But if you need the silver to make some batteries...
