My lucky 1989 ASE pocket piece goes everywhere I do. Why is it lucky? Because I bought it for $1 from a 7-11 cashier in 1993. Yes, it was this scratched and beat-up when I got it! (I keep it in a flip)

I'm really glad someone started a topic on this. I started carrying a 1897S dollar. But then it started to lose some toning that I liked so I stopped carrying it to preserve it the way I wanted. I've carried various dollars to adjust the toning pattern or to naturally "clean" them to a degree. I bought a 1890 CC dollar that looked like it had a little PVC damage on the high spots so I've been carrying that around. It looks a lot better now. Currently I've been toting around Aussie and New Zealand coins since I'm down in New Zealand for a year. Carried a $5 half eagle for a little while.

Not currently carrying one but I have always wanted to buy a BU 1921 Morgan and see if carrying it around will eventually get it down to an AG3 or lower.

I'm a huge fan of silver coins, the weight, feel, and sound but I can't be trusted to carry one around. I'd loose it for sure.

Gothic Florin, why not start with a VF 1921 Morgan? It would get to AG3 in much less time. Silver coins wore out faster in circulation than Cu-Ni coins (every 1965 Quarter I see still has a full rim and date), and your pocketful of Cu-Ni coins would accelerate the '21's wear process.

does anyone else carry coins to get rid of ugly toning more naturally? i.e. to avoid actually "cleaning" it?

after reading this today I started carrying a 1921 Morgan that has black crescent toning as an experiment to see what will happen and how long it takes

I find that when I carry silver coinage in my pockets I tend to fidget with it too much. I love the feel, I love the sound... I must have been a dragon in a former life :-)
