Good job. Silver is so beautiful that even if you don't end up making a lot of money on them they are still nice to look at. If everyone in the world bought a few ounces of silver the price would skyrocket. I don't think that there is nearly enough in existance for everyone to own one. It's a fun hobby and potentially very profitable.
If you put $20,000 in the bank you're lucky to make $50 in interest in a year these days. You could potentially make $30 in a year on your $33 investment. Keep acquiring and I think that you'll be happy.

yes welcome! Nice looking for your first purchase. Like someone said they can added up in a short time if you buy one every now and then.

Hello, PigsRFlying, and to the CCF forum! Everyone here started out at some point in your same position. We didn't know as much about precious metals as we wanted but we knew that we wanted to collect some. This is a great place to share experiences, ask questions, and get real answers. Thanks for posting the pics of your recent purchases. I have some Peace dollars too and remember a time when they were still in common circulation as money... in the early 1960s. Having them brings back some great memories. I also like the Morgan dollar design and have quite a few of them. Their historic character is great and I can just imagine that some cowboy, miner, or other western character once used the same coins that I have to do some business. Yeah, that's probably a long shot but, hey... it COULD have happened!

I'm planning on buying an oz or 1/2 oz a week. I work out of town all the time so I'm thinking about selling my house. Instead of putting that money in the bank I'm thinking of investing that money in gold or silver.

Haha... Yea sorry bout that... I meant as of right now buy a little a week. And the house selling deal is just an idea. I was planning on selling my house anyways. I'm never there. I make a monthly payment on it and I may see it 1 weekend a month.

I bought my first silver last recently too. It's kinda exciting - then I bought a little more this week...when silver was up. I see it's down today. I'm doing the same thing - going to buy an oz or two a week. Hopefully the ups and downs will average out.

I think $33 for the Mercury round was a fair buy 10% over spot not to bad. $25 for the Peace dollar coin with over 3/4 oz of silver was your best purchase. If you can find more at that price I would jump on it. I bought my first ASE and when I received it, I was hooked on accumulating them. Just a piece of advice, try to buy your 1 or 2 oz. a week from members of this forum. You'll find you will get a much better deal than what you can find at ebay. The premiums there are down right crazy. So crazy I have given up buying from that auction site. When you buy, do some research. Make the most out of the hard earned money you'll be using to fund your acquisitions. have that cash go as far as it can. IMHO, try purchasing %90 US junk silver(halves, quarters, dimes), you get a lot more for your money.

Now that I work at the coin shop and held a hand full of lousy fakes an mistake COPY coin buys, it is so noticable the difference. Not saying yours there are fake, I don't think they are. Even though it is a weee bit paculiar that the word liberty across the top of the proof looks like it is fading or rubbing out....
Get a scale an magnet. Being new to silver an coins, best advice I figure you will get thus far. If it sticks like glue tight, FAKE. You may get light attraction on 40% to 90%, but that does not mean it is fake. You can rub the silver on a rock small tiny section, (minimal damage) an add 18K acid, an if it turns blue, I think you are good....
Knowin how to spot a fake will save you much heart ache, and that is a fact.....
