Good point OldDan! What say you to that crystalk?

Dag nabit...I thought we had him until I re-read his post. He was carefully specific and did say "Eagles"!

Boy, My family is really concentrating on ASE's at the moment.

My wife and I each recived our 20th Anniversary set recently. Our oldest son just received his 10 sets. Our daughter was afraid she would not get her order, but three sets arrived just a few days ago, and the possibility of three more for her and her kids still exist. Also, probably the daughter's favorite collection is her ASE's in a Dansco Album. She moved not too long ago and is presently trying to find them so that she can share them with other family members.

Finally, one of my grand daughters, "Coin Girl," has fallen in love with ASE's and they are No. 1 on her want list at the moment.

They are beautiful coins. I guess we can call them coins. My collection is by date, and will be complete after I get the 2007. In addition I do have a few proof coins from years past.

quote crystal64: " I buy NOTHING but BU, or uncirculated silver or gold Eagles as they were designed as bullion investment coins.."

I can't argue with your logic crystal64, but who can deny or resist the beauty of a proof gold coin? I don't think I can. I'm probably going to pick up a few pieces when I see them go on sale.

Any thoughts on the future numismatic value of these "bullion" coins? Anyone?

Here is how I see it. One should invest in the new UNC-W silver or gold. With sightly higher prenium than the old "no-mint mark" bullion, the down side is very limited. In the worst case, you will re-sell it at the price of old "no-mint mark" bullion. However, the up side is umlimited. If more and more people get into the coin collectionand with limited fund, the silver UNC-w can fly. Since it is new to the series, the mintage has not catch up yet.

It's interesting that dealers are now selling the 2007 ASEs, but the US Mint doesn't list the 2007 AGEs. Anyone hear when the gold pieces will be available?

If you are talking about the unc 2007, the mint doesn't sell those, you need to go to an authorized dealer. The mint will sell the gold proof and the gold unc W later in the year but the regular issue gold and silver 2007 bullion coins are not sold by the mint and both are available now.

I couldn't resist, I was just on the mint's web site ordering my '07 proof sets and snagged a proof '06 quarter ounce proof eagle. Oh yeah, that bright yellow stuff is irresistible!
