Nice coins and being a gift from dad makes them priceless. I love my 1883o Morgan my dad gave me even though I have more valuable coins like an 1883cc morgan.

Take it from me, never sell that. I sold a Double Eagle my dad gave me years ago and have regretted it ever since  I was in hard times financially and at the time, I had no choice. I never told him I sold it to this day. He has since given me a Morgan dollar that he has had for years, I will never get rid of that. swcoin.ecrater.com

I have a $5.00 gold coin in my 7070 album that just isn't at a grade as the rest of the coins (probably in the XF range) but I value it more than any other coin in the album because it was given to me by my Grandfather. I have thought about replacing it with a higher grade coin at times and putting it in a airtite or something but as long as its in that album I know where it is and I get to tell this story when someone does ask and it brings back the memory of my Grandfather

good story Bryan. You know this statue of liberty commemorative, which occurred when I was 10 years old- attracted some attention with the knock off private mints. My grandfather gave me two silver "rounds", one was a knock off of this Statue of Liberty coin- and the second, supposedly thrown in at the time was a Ronald Reagan coin. Both were called Silver Double Eagles. I've never been able to find images of them online- and god knows what I did with them- probably threw them away or gave them to somebody. For some reason I never treated them right because I knew they were bogus coins. Would like to have them back for the very reason you mention- it was a gift from my grandfather. It is interesting that even a knockoff coin can mean more than something of monetary value. Thank you all, I've got these in a safe place. Maybe I'll try to rescue the set he gave my sixteen year old sister until she can appreciate them too...

My Dad recently gave me his entire small collection of old coins. Nothing in them of any great worth, but to me they are priceless. I'll never sell them and eventually my sons will get them.

I got the same coins in the 80's b/c of the theme. They will stay with me until I am gone. Your Dad has good taste and it is good to see you enjoy them.
