After looking at that other one and seeing yours Josh I think you should have a yarn to your dad and see what he thinks about sending it away and having it graded but I suppose just getting one of the hard cases to protect him for now and have a think about the other

you reckon? I dunno if it will do that well, especially with the large bag mark on the chin. and it is expensive, have to get a membership which is at least $100, then pay $10 or so to grade, plus insured postage there and back! could end up costing 200 just for grading :(
shame nobody can do it in Aus.

Yeah forget that until you have enough to make it worth while and doing a bulk order might make it cheaper but I really hope you get one of the hard plastic boxes to put him in..he's just way too nice to get any more marks on him

$USD25 PCGS fee to get that in a holder then add postage there and back and the joining fee if you do it yourself. If you are not interested in joining and want to get just a few coins graded I would contact Drake Sterling Numismatics as they offer this service.

This coin does not show any real signs of wear. It has to grade Uncirculated because of this. The 'orrible nicks on the reverse obviously will lower the value of it below an uncirculated example without those nicks.
I would grade it as uncirculated and mention the details.
It would be harder to sell this coin without photographs or examination in hand first.

So then realistically I got a pretty good deal:)
I may have to look into getting it graded.
thanks for all the help everyone!

I'd say yes but I'd still like to see it out of the 2x2 and in a hard container even if you don't get it graded

Ausjack has a point.
Because this is a large coin, the fields are more obviously subject to minor nick damage.
An acryllic screw crown size capsule could be bought from a dealer for a dollar or less. You would then be able to handle the coin quite safely.
I have a few modern silver proof and uncirculated crown sized coins stored in this way.
